Dr. Julie Nelson grew up in Crystal Lake, Illinois. She received her Bachelor’s in Animal Science as well as her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She moved to Colorado shortly after graduation and completed a year-long specialty rotating internship at Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital.

Dr. Nelson is a general practitioner with a special focus on orthopedics and surgery. She spent several years training for specialized procedures including TPLO, and MPL repair. She also enjoys soft tissue surgery, laparoscopic surgery, and the variety that comes with being a general practitioner!

In her free time, Dr. Nelson enjoys attending live music, hiking, painting, and riding ATVs with her husband Billy. She has beagle mix named Banjo, a pit bull named Cinnamon, and a cat named Scout.
